Derek provides a special perspective to consulting and tax services at Corrigan Krause, with a versatile range of experience from the accounting and consulting, and finance industries. He leads our Consulting Department, specializing in our business valuations and related client planning for business succession plans and other key initiatives. He has spent his career focused on privately-held, family and start-up businesses and entrepreneurs.

His education of an economics degree from Allegheny College, followed by the accounting sequence at John Carroll University and a master’s degree in economics from Cleveland State, allow him a unique ability to analyze a client’s business, acquisition, or planning issues from multiple angles. Additionally, he recently completed the Certified Valuation Analyst certification through the NACVA. His clients value that he takes the time to teach and explain concepts and details, while also focusing on the big-picture understanding of the financial, valuation and economic analysis and conclusions.

Derek spends time outside of work coaching and volunteering at his kids’ schools, as well as with Breakthrough Schools, which offers tuition-free educations to students throughout Greater Cleveland. He is also on the boards of the Heights Tigers soccer boosters and baseball boosters, and school board volunteer committees. He enjoys playing soccer and spending time outside with his family. He, his wife, and their kids have a special interest in the many State and National Parks and historic sites in all areas of the Lower 48 states and beyond!
